About The Race...The unique 5K course will take runners and walkers through the beautiful grounds of Chateau Elan Winery & Resort and culminate in a wine tasting of the Chateau’s best harvest.
Proceeds from this family-friendly 5K will support ProstAware, a Georgia-based charity that provides prostate cancer awareness, education, research and support. This Run/Walk is about encouraging men to take some time to look after their own health. |
Why Prostate Cancer Awareness?
"My dad had a long, successful career at Bethlehem Steel in Baltimore, MD, but his greatest success was his family and his love of sports.
He attended Morgan State College and University of Maryland Eastern Shore, where he excelled in football, track, and baseball. He took a lot of pride in trying to help other children succeed in life by playing sports. He would coach them from the side on all aspects of the game of life. He was a humble, quiet leader.
He passed on January 1st, 2014 after battling prostate cancer, just 2 days shy of his 77th birthday. He was the kind of man that spent a lot of time looking after others, and this Run/Walk is about encouraging men to take some time to look after their own health."
