2019 Brian Jordan Scholars Honored

ATLANTA (June 19, 2019) – @TwoSportMan Brian Jordan will be awarding $130,000 in NEW scholarships to 26 high school seniors through the Brian Jordan Foundation in a ceremony held prior to the Atlanta Braves versus New York Mets game at SunTrust Park on Wednesday, June 19th.

The Brian Jordan Foundation Scholarship Program was established to help remove the economic barriers to higher education and reduce the financial burden for students, allowing graduating seniors to enter the college or university of their choice. After reviewing numerous applications this year, the Foundation is pleased to have selected a diverse group of students who possess a strong mix of leadership skills, interests, academic success and extracurricular activities. Including the Class of 2019, the Foundation has awarded a total of 118 college scholarships totaling more than $590,000 since the program’s inception.

Brian Jordan Foundation celebrated the college graduation of 11 BJF Scholars this year, and with the addition of the 15 new scholarship recipients listed below, there will be 77 current Brian Jordan Scholars continuing their university education in the 2019-2020 school year.

Jordan, who played three seasons in the NFL and 15 seasons in MLB, is one of only two athletes ever to have been named as an NFL Pro Bowl Alternate and MLB All-Star. As a graduate of the University of Richmond and a current Master’s student at Liberty University, Brian understands the importance of continuing education.

“I truly believe that every child has the potential for excellence, and that belief is the guiding principle of all of our initiatives through the Brian Jordan Foundation,” said Jordan. “I am proud to be able to invest in this next generation of engineers and artists, journalists and scientists, and doctors and business moguls. My mother was an educator and awarding these scholarships is one of the ways that I seek to honor her.”

In 2019, several donors have made this investment possible, including Georgia’s Own Credit Union, Cigna, Delta, Fox Sports South, the Atlanta Braves, CP Sitework, and Quicktrip, who have supported the BJF Scholarship program through the foundation’s annual charity golf weekend.

The Foundation hosts events throughout the year to raise funds and awareness for the scholarship and other programs. On Oct. 27-28, 2019, the Foundation will host its 13th Annual Celebrity Golf Weekend at Chateau Elan.

Founded in 1998, the Brian Jordan Foundation has helped students experience the dream of a college education by providing scholarships, taught children life lessons through the fundamentals of baseball, equipped hundreds of children with back-to-school supplies, and encouraged countless others on the importance of literacy. The foundation is dedicated to building healthy minds, strong bodies and safe places to play, learn and grow.
